TECHNICAL OVERVIEW
The Level 3 comes out of the box as a Class 2 ebike, with pedal assist and throttle. It can be unlocked to a Class 3 ebike. The Level 3 will also operate with the throttle unplugged and removed, should you want to ride in an area where throttles are prohibited or only Class 1 bikes are permitted.
Aventon ebikes are built to the IPX6-rated standard. An IPX6 rating means the bike is protected against high-pressure water streams from any angle. This provides strong water resistance, so you can confidently ride in heavy rain or through puddles and mud. However, IPX6 does not mean waterproof—Aventon ebikes are not designed for full submersion. Avoid using a pressure washer or sprayer to clean your ebike, as pressurized water can still damage components. *Max range determined using PAS 1 throughout flat terrain with a rider weight of 160 lb.

I love 99.9% of this bike. I wanted a torque sensor rather than cadence because I still want to get some physical exercise with it (low assistance) and also relax while cycling with my wife (mid level assistance). If I have to get somewhere fast, I can une the maximum assist. We also also increase max speed limit, but I don't believe it is necessary. 32 km/h seems enough to me.
Only annoyance; the screen on the display unit only shows odometer information and not trip info. I contacted the company to ask if I was missing something, and they only replied by referring me to a manual which explains an older version on the display unit. Very annoying. There are ways to see the trip info, but then you lose the flasher functionality, the indication of assistance level and battery power remaining. You can also have the trip info on a phone hooked to the handlebar, but I prefer having my training app (strava) on it and a map. Why the trip info is not available while the odometer is shown is beyond comprehension.
Its a small (annoying) thing that would not change my mind on purchasing this bike (and I tried several before). This annoyance will likely be corrected through an update once the company figures out that flaw (so far, they could not understant the issue as they were looking and referring to an older version of the display unit which displays trip and odometer when circling the screens).

After extensive online research I came across Aventon bikes. Watching a few reviews I quickly realized that this company was on to something good. Well made versatile well priced e-bikes. Living in Ontario Canada I started looking for dealers close to me. I found a couple. One of them being House of Bikes out of Ottawa. The other store was located closer to me in Toronto. I reached out to both places with questions I needed answers to in order to solidify my understanding of the bikes themselves and my potential use of them. Out of the two stores only House of Bikes responded to me in a timely manner. Alex from House of Bikes chatted with me online answering my questions. After which called me and spent over an hour on the phone with me guiding me through the nuances of the e-bike I was interested in and applying it to how I told him I want to ride. I ended up buying two bikes from him due to his unrushed approach at sales and information dissemination. The bikes were shipped to me in a few days and arrived in perfect order. With excitement I assembled them and took mine out for a maiden ride. I was impressed and awed at how well it fit me. After a few days I purchased a few small things to personalize the bike to me…tires, seat, pedals and such just to fine tune it for how I ride. This is the best riding experience I’ve ever had. Having owed many conventional style bikes this is how I’ve always wanted to ride. I’m bionic! I really enjoy my purchase and highly recommend purchasing from House of Bikes!
