Weâve absolutely loved our Aventon Abound LR! It has made family outings so much easier and more enjoyable. The ride is smooth, itâs comfortable to handle even with our child on board, and our kid absolutely loves riding in it. Itâs quickly become our favorite way to get around together. Highly recommend it to any family looking for a practical and fun cargo e-bike!
I chose this bike because my wife and I wanted to continue to enjoy the outdoors in an accessible way. Even though House of Bikes did not have any of these bikes in stock, the owner was really accommodating with providing the demo until my order arrived. The Demo was set up perfectly with the captain chair in the back and the Aventon Rear Handle bar. I paid my bill in full for the bike even though it was a Demo.
When we received our new bike, the employee told me that the back handle bar was in back order, and the back handle bar that was on the Demo was promised for another client who had accessibility issues. I told the employee that this was a problem that he needed to fix, because we needed that accessibility as well.
We found a solution, the employee found a handle bar at a dealer in Kingston, Ontario. We headed there for vacation, so we stopped by at that shop. However, it was not the right rear handle bar as they had misinterpreted as the Abound Handrail for children.
Come to think of it, when House of Bikes took my money, I paid for the Abound Rear Handle Bar, but they made the decision to give it to another client...
My wife left a message at the dealer in Ottawa about this misfortune. We did not hear back from them yet, it's been over a week now.
We had to go to a local bike shop where we were on vacation and we found a great solution so that the back passenger is much more stable. Essentially, we retrofitted handle bars directly on the seat post of the bike. This is a way safer option than the Aventon Rear Handlebar. I wish the dealer would have suggested this in the first place. See pictures for more details.
It is a great bike, we are enjoying it fully, no issues with the bike.
It is the service for accessibility that is in question here. The fact that the dealer knew that my wife needed accommodations on this bike, and the dealer's decision to prioritize another client's needs is questionable. I know that it may have been a question of parts being on back order, but hey, it is what it is...
I hope this is helpful for the dealer to make better decisions for particular needs of clients.
Weâve had ours for around 2 months now and love it, rarely use our car to get around the city with the kids anymore. I have had an accident with it due to biking in the rain (got caught accidentally) and needed to break at the same time as we hit a puddle and I pulled too tight on the breaks and it slipped from under me (my fault entirely) and while I have some pretty large bruises my 2 kids came out completely unscathed. So grateful for the bars at the back around the kids.
